Meeting Lisa

I went to google and typed, “What font should a blog be in?” Why was that the first thing that came to mind when I sat down to start writing? I have no idea.

Hi, I’m Lisa. Welcome to Blog & Breakfast. And yes, I do work on my blog and breakfast at the same time. My goal is simple; explore the traditional accommodation and contemporize it. So, let’s dive in.

I still have lasting memories of my first stay in a bed and breakfast. It was the mid 90’s in the Potomac Highlands of West Virginia. The quaint town of Romney seemed charming enough, full of cute shops and surrounded by the tree-filled rolling hills. The inn-keepers seemed old, as did the house. We had a shared bathroom with other guests and breakfast was served at one very long table, everyone together. It felt awkward, like I didn’t belong there. I really didn’t. I was a pre-teen and tagged along with my best friend. Her grandparents owned the inn. I didn’t appreciate that style of a weekend getaway. I mean, do pre-teens really appreciate anything?

Fast forward to today! We’re on the cusp of 2020 and my brother owns the Hibiscus House Bed & Breakfast in Fort Myers and I am on the cusp of 40! Being one of two moms to twin 4-year old boys, I’d take that quiet trip to…anywhere, yeah, pretty much anywhere! After staying at the Hibiscus House a few times, I can totally see the appeal. The right innkeepers of a bed and breakfast can accommodate all types of individuals. Don’t like sitting at the big table with other guests for breakfast? Look for one that has small table options. Not a fan of making a grand entrance every time you walk through the front door? Search for one that has multiple entrances/exits. Bed and breakfasts have the opportunity to be the chameleon of the lodging arena. They can break open your vacation or holiday boarding experience to a world of new sights and locations. Or the same ones, if that’s what you’re into.

The point is, you can find a bed and breakfast to suit any number of wishes. After all, that’s what they do best! Now go out there uncover a one, and let me know what you find!
