About Us

More information coming soon

Hi, we’re Bob and Colleen, owner/operators of the Hibiscus House Bed & Breakfast. So glad you’ve taken the time to read a little about us. We’ll give you the abridged version here, if you want to know more, you’ll just have to book a stay with us 🙂

We have always had a flair for hospitality. Ever since we bought our first house, we were hosting for every holiday and every event. Little did we know that all those years taking care of family and friends, making their visits comfortable and leaving no need unmet would prep us for the leap of a lifetime. That during those years, behind the scenes, we were perfecting our craft. The seed was planted over 15 years ago and one fall day in 2017, it sprouted…Colleen came home from work and said “we should own a bed and breakfast, can we do it?” I spent weeks researching the idea and pouring over numbers, then I said “yes!” After all, this is what we do best!

Why the Hibiscus House you ask?

Not only did we fall in love with southwest Florida after spending a few family vacations on Captiva island, the proximity of the Inn to the River District is ideal for immersing oneself into the culture here.
The River District streets are bustling with arts, food, specialty shops and events every weekend that we love to explore.

We also share a love of old houses. Specifically ones with a rich history and saturated in the culture of its neighborhood. And the Hibiscus House has a story spanning over 100 years, a story that includes cutting the house in two and shipping it down the Caloosahatchee River, only to have it get stuck out there for days. It’s a great story! We are honored to be a part of this house’s history and can only hope to leave a positive, lasting impression on its personality.

Housing five rooms, the house is just big enough to keep us busy but small enough that we can take extra care in providing you with a home a way from home feel. Including all the personal touches of a friend just as our slogan says, “Arrive as guests, leave as friends.”

We’d like to welcome you once more and thank you for choosing the Hibiscus House Bed and Breakfast. Hope to see you soon.
